SF1015 Paddle Meter

The Sur-Flo SF1015 Paddle Meter is a versatile solution for industries such as oil and gas, mining, chemical processing, and water and wastewater management.

Its durable design and reliable performance ensures accurate flow measurement in challenging environments, making it ideal for a wide range of industrial applications.

Ideal applications: oil and gas produced water · slurry and abrasive fluids · chemical process lines · high-debris liquid service

The Sur-Flo Paddle Meter is Canadian-manufactured at our facility in Calgary, Alberta.

The SF1015 Paddle Meter

The SF1015 is a low-maintenance mechanical flow meter built for produced water, slurry, and high-debris liquid service. Typical upstream or downstream straight-run requirements do not apply, three-step field service, and a customizable design make it a practical fit for demanding process environments where conventional turbine meters fall short.

Manufactured in-house in Calgary, Alberta, the SF1015 is customizable by size, end connections, and material of construction to match your pipe configuration and fluid chemistry perfectly.

How the SF1015 Works

The SF1015 mounts directly onto the pipeline. The paddle assembly rotates in response to fluid flow, generating a pulse frequency output proportional to flow rate that feeds into a compatible flow monitor or totalizer for rate, total flow measurement, and communication capabilities.

Because the design does not rely on close-tolerance rotating components, it is unaffected by high solid content, scaling, and debris that cause conventional turbine meters to plug or wear ahead of schedule.

Three-Step Field Service

The SF1015 is serviced by plant maintenance personnel in three steps with no specialized tools required. Fewer internal components means fewer parts to inspect or replace and less time out of service between maintenance intervals.

For operations running remote sites or high-utilization process lines, that serviceability directly reduces maintenance costs and unplanned downtime.

What the SF1015 Paddle Meter Is Used For

The SF1015 covers a broad range of industrial process applications where high debris processes, abrasive solids, or corrosive chemistry is a factor.

  • Produced water measurement in oil and gas operations
  • Slurry transport and process water in mining
  • Injection line and separator service
  • Chemical process lines with corrosive fluid chemistry
  • Municipal water and wastewater utility applications
  • High-debris liquid service where plugging risk is a recurring issue

Industries the SF1015 Serves

The SF1015 Paddle Meter is built for industries where debris, abrasive solids, and corrosive conditions put conventional meters under strain.

Oil and Gas Produced water, injection lines, and separator service across the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin and U.S. oilfield regions.

Mining Slurry transport, process water, and tailings where abrasive particulates cause rapid wear in conventional meter designs.

Municipal Water and Wastewater Utility and treatment plant applications requiring reliable long-term flow measurement with minimal maintenance.

Chemical Processing Corrosive process lines where material selection at order is required to match fluid chemistry.

Why Operations Choose the SF1015

Conventional turbine meters plug, wear prematurely, and require frequent maintenance in aggressive service. The SF1015 is designed around those problems.

  • No close-tolerance rotating components susceptible to debris and scaling
  • Typical upstream or downstream straight-run requirements do not apply
  • Three-step field service without specialized tools
  • Customizable material selection for corrosive and abrasive conditions
  • Pulse frequency output compatible with existing flow monitors and totalizers

Manufactured in Calgary, Alberta

Every SF1015 Paddle Meter is manufactured in-house at our Calgary, Alberta facility. Sur-Flo Meters & Controls works directly with engineering, operations, and procurement teams across Western Canada and the United States on sizing, customization, and lead times.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a paddle meter used for? The SF1015 Paddle Meter is a mechanical flow meter for industrial pipelines, built specifically for high-debris, produced water, slurry, and abrasive fluid service where turbine and positive displacement meters plug or wear prematurely. It is widely used in oil and gas produced water lines, mining slurry transport, chemical processing, and municipal wastewater applications.

Does the SF1015 Paddle Meter require a straight-run pipe? Not usually. The SF1015 Paddle Meter installs without the typical upstream or downstream straight-run requirements, making it suitable for retrofit and tight process configurations. This is a key advantage over turbine and magnetic flow meters that require several pipe diameters of straight run on both sides. For specific details, contact Sur-Flo Meters & Controls.

How is the SF1015 Paddle Meter serviced? The SF1015 is serviced in three steps by plant maintenance personnel with no specialized tools required. The simplified internal design reduces the number of components to inspect or replace, which shortens maintenance windows and lowers the total cost of ownership over the meter’s operating life. Replacement parts are available directly from Sur-Flo Meters & Controls.

What flow monitors are compatible with the SF1015 Paddle Meter? The SF1015 is compatible with all Sur-Flo flow monitors including the BS30BM, BS30BS, BS30XR, BS2900, and BS30ZR. It also works with any conventional totalizer or flow controller that accepts a pulse frequency input signal, making it straightforward to integrate into existing control and data acquisition systems.

What industries use the SF1015 Paddle Meter? The SF1015 serves oil and gas, mining, municipal water and wastewater, and chemical processing operations. It is particularly common in produced water measurement and slurry transport applications where debris loading and abrasive solids rule out conventional meter designs.
